Author : Joseph Smith Jr.

Joseph Smith, Jr. was the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, commonly known as Mormonism, and a significant religious and political leader in the early 19th century. In 1827, he claimed to have been visited by an angel who directed him to a set of golden plates, which he later translated into the Book of Mormon, published in 1830. This book served as a foundational text for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which Smith organized the same year. Throughout the 1830s, he led his followers from Kirtland, Ohio, to Missouri and eventually to Nauvoo, Illinois, where they began constructing a temple. Smith's leadership faced challenges, culminating in his assassination by a mob at the age of 38. Revered by his followers as a prophet, Smith's revelations are considered sacred texts, and his influence endures among millions of adherents worldwide.
